DAMO'S NETWORK Damo Suzuki Unit Live in Japan Yukiko SHIKATA Damo SUZUKI (living in Cologne), the former vocalist of a German legendary band, CAN, is going to hold a live stage with his new unit, DAMO'S NETWORK, in May . When I met him in Germany in the late1980's, I was fascinated by his friendly and sensitive personality as well as his vocal performance, and ever since, I had longed to see his live performance in Japan. I had heard that, when he returned from Germany after a long time, he held a secret live show in Japan without much public announcement, and was welcomed by an enthusiastic audience (unfortunately I was in Cologne then), and this good news about his live in May was a wonderful surprise. Reflecting a new development, the new unit consists of the following members: Jaki Liebezeit (drums), a good friend of Damo since CAN, Mattias Keul of Dunkelziffer (Keyboard), Dominik von Senger of Phantom Band (Guitar), and Mandjau Fati of Donja Pere (base). I am eager to see what sort of sound will be created by such versatile members. The tickets for this live are only available upon reservation, due to Damo's hope of "having a good communication with the audience" (they will not be sold at the playguide counters/available only via postal money order).
