monade contemporary | 単子現代では、さくまはな／駒井弘枝による展覧会「街と部屋のなかで | between town and room」を開催します。

さくまはなはこれまで海外各国を訪れ、暮らしてきた経験をもとに、異なる文化や価値観の境界線に目を向けます。街並や市場に流通する商品や食材のリサーチを通じて、個人と社会のかかわりとその移り変わりをインスタレーション作品として表現します。駒井弘枝はロンドンの各所で長年にわたり暮らすなかで、制作活動をとおして建造物や素材の来歴を辿ろうとします。人々が今も往来する歴史的な建物の絵画、制作活動で用いる道具の彫刻とともに、移りゆく暮らしのなかに残る存在の確かさを見出します。

本展では、街と部屋という建物の内外にある社会空間に発明の契機を探ります。さくまは過去20年にわたり継続して制作してきた屋台をモチーフとしたミニチュアの作品群とともに、人々の生活と経済活動が移動と遭遇のなかで街の市場を形づくり、コミュニティを生み出すプロセスにアプローチします。駒井は、街並にある建造物の風景画、制作で使う道具を彫刻したブロンズ作品、また装飾の素材を幾何学的に構成するコラージュ作品とともに、日常の暮らしと制作活動のかかわりに創造的な関係性を見出します。

欲望と信念においてものがつくられ、他者との出遭いを通して交換され、流通するとき、街と部屋は人々にとってどのような発見の場となるのでしょうか。歴史を超えて確かめられる、記念碑の広場にご参加ください。


さくまはな
現在、神戸を拠点にアート活動を行う。1993年から2010年までロンドン在住。ロンドン芸術大学チェルシーカレッジ オブ アート＆デザイン博士号 practice-based doctorate degree (PhD Fine Art) 取得。最近のアート活動に、個展「ポリレンマの家」 monade contemporary単子現代（2024）、個展「Society」（KOBE STUDIO Y3、C.A.P.〔芸術と計画会議〕、神戸、2023）、個展「from one place to another」（ベラクルス州立大学ギャラリー、Galeria Ramón Alva de la Canal、2019、ハラパ、メキシコ）、グループ展「INTER CULTURA」（インドネシア国立芸術大学ジョグジャカルタ校ギャラリー、ジョグジャカルタ、インドネシア、2025）、グループ展「Cultural Kaleidoscope」（Taiteen talo 、ハラパ、フィンランド、2024）など。

駒井弘枝
ロンドンをベースに国内外で活動。京都精華大学卒業後渡英。キャンバーウェル・カレッジ・オブ・アート(UAL)で学士(首席)を取得した後、ゴールドスミス・カレッジ（ロンドン大学) で修士を取得。近年の活動に、「Artists Letters」（KOBE STUDIO Y3、 神戸、2025）、「Material Gestures」（Officine Gullo、ロンドン、2025）、「Hiroe Komai + Colin Smith」（JGM ギャラリー、ロンドン、2020）、「Collision Drive 3」（ロイアル・メルボルン工科大学、オーストラリア、2019）、「ポジションズ ベルリン アートフェア」(テンペルホフ空港、ベルリン、ドイツ、2019）など。

monade contemporary | 単子現代 is pleased to present between town and room, an exhibition by Hana Sakuma and Hiroe Komai.

Drawing on her experiences of living and working in various countries, Hana Sakuma focuses on the boundaries between different cultures and value systems. Through research into cityscapes, markets, and circulating goods and foodstuffs, she explores the relationships between individuals and society and their transformations, translating these processes into installation works.

Hiroe Komai, based in London for many years, traces the histories embedded in architecture and materials through her artistic practice. Through paintings of historical buildings still traversed by people today, along with sculptural works based on the tools she uses in her studio, she discovers the persistence of presence within changing modes of everyday life.

This exhibition seeks moments of invention within social spaces that exist both inside and outside architecture—between the town and the room. Sakuma presents a series of miniature works based on food stalls, a motif she has developed continuously over the past twenty years, approaching the processes through which people’s lives and economic activities, shaped by movement and encounters, form urban markets and generate communities. Komai, meanwhile, presents landscape paintings of urban architecture, bronze sculptures of tools used in her practice, and collage works that geometrically compose decorative materials. Through these works, she reveals a creative relationship between daily life and artistic production.

When objects are made out of desire and belief, exchanged in encounters with others, and set into circulation, how the town and the room become a site of invention for us? We invite you to join the square of monuments that emerges across histories.

Hana Sakuma
Sakuma currently lives and works in Kobe. She lived and worked in London from 1993 to 2010. She holds a practice-based doctorate degree (PhD Fine Art) from Chelsea College of Art & Design, University of the Arts London. She is currently an associate professor at the Department of Art and Crafts/Center for Art and Design Education at Kobe Design University. Recent art activities include solo exhibition “House of Polylemma”, monade contemporary (2024), solo exhibition “Society”, KOBE STUDIO Y3 (2023), solo exhibition “from one place to another”, Galeria Ramón Alva de la Canal, Gallery, University of Veracruz, Xalapa, Mexico (2019), group exhibition “INTER CULTURA”, Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta Gallery, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2025), group exhibition “Cultural Kaleidoscope” at Taiteen talo, Turku, Finland (2024).

Hiroe Komai
Based in London, active both nationally and internationally. After graduating from Kyoto Seika University, Komai moved to London. Graduated at Camberwell Collage of Art (UAL) and received BA in Fine Art, (First Class Honours). Then completed Master’s degree from Goldsmiths Collage (University of London). Recent activities include “Artists Letters” (STUDIO Y3 KOBE, Kobe, 2025), “Material Gestures” (Officine Gullo, London, 2025), “Hiroe Komai + Collin Smith” (JGM Gallery, London, 2020), “Collision Drive 3” (Royal Melbourne University of Technology, Australia, 2019), “Position Berlin Art Fair” (Tempelhof Airport, Berlin, Germany, 2019).
