monade contemporary | 単子現代では、奈良平華子／城戸みゆき による展覧会「赤の景 | in-red」を開催します。

物語や日々の気づきから考え感じることから作品の制作やインスタレーションを行う奈良平は、出来事や物事のまわりにあるものとのかかわりやその由来をリサーチしながら思いゆくままにニット作品として実現させます。記憶のなかで変容するイメージへの関心とともに日常に見られるものをインスタレーションとして展開する城戸は、ものとものの位置付けや関係性を組み替えることでダイナミックに変化する世界のありようを提示します。

本展では、赤という色彩や概念を辿りながら、人々が生きる環境や歴史、また記憶を一つの景色として出現させることを試みます。奈良平は力強い印象を与える赤い漁網が深水の魚には見えにくいものになるというように、環境によって変わる知覚や現象を不確かな手つきで探ろうとします。また城戸が拡大する都市のエネルギーを感じながら制作した赤い電線は、長大な吉祥文様の連なりとなって、畏怖と祝福を感じさせる風景として立ち現れます。

編みものの起源となった漁網の絡まりと吉祥模様の伝統的な飾り結びが赤い光線となって空間を占めるとき、人々の生活とその記憶はどのように知覚され、再編されることになるのでしょうか。時空間を超越した光線が織りなす、赤い景色の出現にご参加ください。

奈良平華子
京都在住のニットデザイナー・アーティスト。ロンドンのCentral Saint Martins College of Art and Design, BA Fashion Design with Knitwearを卒業後、1点もののアートピースから、量産されるカットソーのデザインまで、あらゆるニットに携わりながら自身の制作を続けてきた。近年、AMUSHIKANAIというハンドニットブランドを立ち上げ、物語や日々の気づきから考え感じることをテーマにリサーチし、作品の制作やインスタレーションを行なっている。

城戸みゆき
女子美術大学芸術学部絵画科洋画専攻卒業。京都在住。記憶の中で変容していくイメージに関心を持ち、日常目にしているものを使ったインスタレーション作品を中心に制作している。

monade contemporary | 単子現代 is pleased to present in-red by Hanako Narahira and Miyuki Kido.

Narahira creates knitted works and installations that emerge from stories and small perceptual encounters in everyday life. She follows the relations surrounding events and things—their origins, the elements that gather around them—and lets these explorations unfold freely into knitted forms. Kido develops installations exploring images that transform within memory and in the things that populate daily life. Rearranging the positions and relationships of objects, she dynamically reveals the world’s ever-shifting nature.

This exhibition traces the color and concept of red, attempting to let environments, histories, and memories of human life appear as a singular landscape. Narahira investigates shifting perception and phenomena shaped by their surroundings—such as how a strong, vivid red fishing net becomes less visible to fish in deep water—probing these uncertainties through her making. Kido’s red electrical cables, created while sensing the energy of an expanding city, transform into an expansive chain of auspicious patterns, emerging as a landscape that evokes both awe and blessing.

When the entanglement of fishing nets—one of the origins of knitting—and the traditional decorative knots of auspicious motifs occupy the space as red rays of light, how might our lives and memories be perceived and reconfigured? Please participate in the scenery of red woven from rays that transcend time and space.

Hanako Narahira
Knit designer and artist based in Kyoto. After graduating from the BA Fashion Design with Knitwear program at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, Narahira has continued her own creative practice while working across a wide spectrum of knitwear—from one-of-a-kind art pieces to mass-produced cut-and-sewn garments. In recent years, the artist founded AMUSHIKANAI, a hand-knit brand through which she develops works and installations based on research into stories and the subtle perceptual moments of daily life.

Miyuki Kido
Graduated from the Department of Painting, Oil Painting Course, Joshibi University of Art and Design. Based in Kyoto. Her practice centers on installations using everyday objects, guided by her interest in images that transform within memory.
