東京藝術大学美術学部彫刻科の教員たちによるグループ展「愛、ハンマーそして彫像　Love, Hammer and Statues」をART FACTORY城南島にて開催いたします。

― 世界は、無数の「彫像」の上に成り立っているのかもしれません。 そして私たちは、思っている以上に多くの彫像との関係の中で生きているのかもしれません。それらが象 徴するもの、壊された後に残る断片、かたちになる以前の素材も含めて。 本展は、フランスの哲学者ミシェル・セールの著書『彫像』に着想を得ています。セールは彫像を、人間と 言語、神話や科学、共同体を結びつける場として捉えました。 5人の作家は、それぞれ異なる素材や方法を用いながら、世界や対象と向き合います。その根底には、 世界や対象を受け入れ、執着し、手放し、それでも関わり続けようとする態度が共通してあります。本展 では、その営みを「愛」という言葉から考えてみます。 それぞれが手にする「ハンマー」は、何かを壊すためだけの道具ではありません。一撃を通して、その接 点から見慣れた世界を揺らし、当たり前になっていた価値や関係を問い直します。 「人は、ものを作るとき人間になり、あるいはまた、考えたり愛したりするとき、人は人間になる」(ミシェル・ セール『彫像』より) 壊すこととつくることは対立する行為ではなく、世界と私たちの関係を更新し続ける運動なのです。 「愛、ハンマーそして彫像」は、まさにその「視点」から世界を見つめ直す展覧会です。 ―

“Love, Hammer and Statues”
We are pleased to present “Love, Hammer and Statues,” a group exhibition by faculty members of the Tokyo University of the Arts, at ART FACTORY JONANJIMA.
We will host an artist talk featuring visual artist Shiko Shindo. We invite you to take this opportunity to visit the exhibition.

— Perhaps the world is built upon countless “statues.” And perhaps we live in a relationship with more statues than we realize. This includes what they symbolize, the fragments left behind after they are destroyed, and the raw materials that existed before they took shape. This exhibition draws inspiration from the book *Statues* by French philosopher Michel Serres. Serres viewed statues as spaces that connect humans with language, mythology, science, and community. The five artists confront the world and their subjects using their own distinct materials and methods. At the core of their work lies a shared attitude: accepting the world and its objects, becoming attached to them, letting them go, and yet continuing to engage with them. In this exhibition, we explore this process through the lens of the word “love.” The “hammer” each artist wields is not merely a tool for destruction. Through a single blow, they shake the familiar world from that point of contact and reexamine the values and relationships that had become taken for granted. “People become human when they create things; or rather, when they think and love, they become human” (from Michel Serres, *The Statue*). Destroying and creating are not opposing acts; rather, they are a continuous process of renewing our relationship with the world. “Love, Hammer, and Statue” is an exhibition that reexamines the world from precisely this “perspective.” —
