クリスチャンは、”道”をもうひとつの世界への通過（Transit）ととらえ、その場所に身を置くことから作品を生み出してきました。

彼が日本との縁を持つのは1984年。開催された国際美術展への参加をきっかけに、初めて日本の地を踏みます。
その翌年、ドイツでは “Forty Years of Work”と題する展覧会が開かれました。

当時33歳であった彼が、自らの作品に込めた「40年」という時間。それは、特別な意味とどこか遠くへ向かう道行きのようでもあります。

そして、この頃、たどり着いた場所——葉山での制作が始まります。

YOKOTA TOKYO is pleased to present Abraham David Christian — 道 Forty Years of Work.

For the sculptor, 道 (Michi / The Way) is not simply a journey from one place to another, but a transit into a different realm of experience. His works emerge from immersing himself in the places he encounters.
His connection with Japan began in 1984, when he first visited the country to participate in an international exhibitions.
That following year, an exhibition in Germany bore the title "Forty Years of Work." At the age of thirty-three, the artist invested his work with the notion of “forty”—a span of time whose resonance reaches beyond the measure of years, evoking a passage that is at once long, inward, and quietly transformative.

At the end of that passage, he arrived in Hayama, where his work gradually took root.
